Consult Maritime LLC is an independent, ISO-certified marine and offshore consultancy providing marine surveying, assurance, compliance, asset integrity, and technical advisory services across the United States and internationally where required.
Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Hoboken, New Jersey, within the New York / New Jersey maritime corridor, Consult Maritime supports shipowners, operators, charterers, offshore contractors, insurers, P&I Clubs, financial institutions, government agencies, and legal practitioners requiring independent technical expertise and objective third-party assessments.
The company combines practical marine engineering experience, surveying expertise, regulatory knowledge, and advanced inspection technologies to support informed decision-making throughout the asset lifecycle. Services range from condition and pre-purchase surveys to compliance audits, asset integrity assessments, offshore assurance, casualty investigations, and technical due diligence.
Assignments are conducted with a strong emphasis on independence, technical accuracy, and evidence-based reporting, ensuring that clients receive practical recommendations aligned with operational, commercial, regulatory, insurance, and legal requirements.

Meet the Principal Consultant
Ayman Alakkawi, MSc., CEng.
Principal Surveyor & Consultant
Ayman Alakkawi is the Founder and Principal Consultant of Consult Maritime LLC, a Chief Marine Engineer and Chartered Marine Engineer (CEng, UK) with over 24 years of international experience across the maritime, offshore oil & gas, and renewable energy sectors.
His experience includes vessel inspections, audits, and investigations across a wide range of vessel types and offshore assets, supporting operational, regulatory, and insurance-related activities. He has been involved in casualty investigations, hull and machinery assessments, and technical evaluations requiring structured analysis and defensible reporting.
Ayman’s career includes seagoing service as Chief Marine Engineer, surveyor experience with Lloyd’s Register in New York, regulatory and advisory roles with a flag administration, and academic responsibilities as Assistant Professor of Marine Engineering at SUNY Maritime College.
He is certified in ISM, ISPS, and MLC audits, IMCA eCMID inspections, and LNG / dual-fuel vessel operations, and provides engineering evaluations and technical advisory services across commercial vessels, offshore units, gas carriers, cruise vessels, and superyachts.
Ayman is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) and a member of IMarEST, IIMS, and ASME.
All services are performed or directly overseen by the Principal Consultant, ensuring consistency, accountability, and technical integrity across all assignments.
