MCA Coding Survey
We are authorized by the leading U.K. certifying authority MECAL to carry out survey and certification for Workboats, Small Commercial Vessels & Large Yachts for vessels registered in the British RedEnsign Group Flag
The United Kingdom and certain other 'Red Ensign Group' vessels carrying people and/or cargo should be certificated under The Merchant Shipping (Vessels in Commercial Use for Sport or Pleasure) Regulations. The system is regulated by the MCA - the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
As an appointed Certifying Authority surveyor by MECAL (Level A2, C2), we are authorized to carry out Compliance Examinations on behalf of the MCA to enable vessels to be certificated under the MCA Codes of Compliance for Small Commercial Vessels (SCV2), following successful survey, certificates are issued to the owner and copies of the certification and code paperwork should be carried on-board.
Code compliance certificates are valid for five years. Annual, intermediate and renewal surveys are required to keep the vessel compliant, annual surveys often check the vessel against its paperwork; intermediate surveys are physical checks on the equipment and condition of the vessel, and renewals are a full inspection including an out-of-water inspection.
We provide a full consultancy service for owners to assist them through the process of making their vessel compliant, including inclining experiments and collating stability data, carry out Tonnage Measurement Surveys, damage, and repair supervision, completing all the necessary documentation for submission to the MCA Certifying Authority.
We have the ability to offer consultancy for Large Yacht to survey & certificate Jersey registered large yachts to 400GT towards the issue of the Large Yacht & International Convention Certificates.
